Whilst I enjoyed 'V for Vendetta', as it was made by Hollywierd, I had to ignore the fact that the 'bad government' in question was a right wing government. Knowing that it would in fact be the left that would try and usher in this type of tyranny in the future. (In my mind I substituted the 'right government' with a 'left government' and enjoyed the movie more as it became more believable.)
The image of John Hurt as Chancellor Adam Sutler at the podium and Biden, the installed Resident at his... odium is strikingly similar.

'Captured arrows' reminds me of the Battle of Covadonga. (The start of the Spanish Reconquista) The stories say that the enemy arrows actually turned back on the enemy archers and killed them. It was a miracle of Divine intervention. Also it's a story of the few completely destroying a vast enemy. There were 300 Christians against many thousands of enemy soldiers.
If you want to feel like you're living in a parallel world, just look at network programming from like 2005-2008 or so. Full of dark stories about how a shadowy government is going to use national security laws to strip us of our freedom..........
